Millennial Of The Week

Millennial Of The Week: Sergio Quiros

This week our interview guest is Sergio Quiros, one of our most dedicated and engaged members! Sergio was born in Madrid but has been living in Germany since 2013 because of his job – he works as a mechanical engineer (CAD designer). Having studied mechanical engineer because of a personal interest in contributing to the development of technology. In Sergio’s case, his passion lies in cars which are, as he puts it, “a beautiful mix between technology and emotions”. Recently though, he discovered another passion – one for the development of people: “Because people are the most amazing machine in the World!” So nowadays Sergio is trying to learn as much as possible about what it means to be human, personality type theories, communication models, our past and present, and thinking about our future…and he would like to collaborate in order to create the best future possible for all us (and for the planet)!

Welcome to Millennial Of The Week! This is an interview series conducted by Millennial Community – we are a group of like-minded young people who support each other, talk about life as a millennial, work on projects & ideas that matter and challenge the status quo of the world we live in. Let’s dive right in!

Are you a member of any online communities? If so, what made you join?

Well, I am member of Xing for my career, and I am also member of BiblioEteca, where people can talk about reading, rate books, upload their own writings…and then there’s Freeletics for my fitness training and Insight Timer, but I am pretty passive. I joined Millennial Community because I find it a very interesting chance to be very active in a community with an amazing potential! Let’s Go Millenniaaaals! 😀

What are – in your opinion – the most important skills a millennial needs to cultivate, and why?

In my opinion, at first, a millennial needs to develop a critical spirit, because not every food is healthy, not every book/article is constructive, and not every documental is objective. I think that every millennial needs a critical spirit in order to select what makes you win/thrive, and what not.

Second: awareness. We need to be conscious about who we really are, what a wonderful power each of us has, and where are we living. With a lot of awareness we can reach consciousness. Why do we need that? I think that we need a high level of consciousness in order to reach incredible goals.

Third: communication skills. We need to spread messages, and each person has different psychological needs, so a millennial needs developed communication skills in order to establish a real connection with the person who is listening, and needs to explain exactly what they want to explain.

How are you practicing those skills in your own life?

Critical Spirit: I usually ask myself: If I eat/read/watch this… who wins? I also consult a lot of sources and contrast the information when I am investigating about a topic, and of course I ask people! A lot of asked people means a lot of opinions…of course, I mean people with experience and interest about your topic!

Awareness and consciousness: I practice sports 3-4 times a week (Freeletics, Climbing). I am training my brain with a very interesting plan (www.insanity-mind.com). I meditate 3-6 times a week (my goal is every day…). I like walking through the forest and observe every little thing in nature, every wonderful structure in a flower, in a tree…and I follow people like Deepak Chopra too.

Communication Skills: I am learning about personalities/communication theories and models and, at the same time, I try to find the theory in reality: TV-series characters, people around me etc. And when I talk to people, I try to give my best in order to satisfy their psychological needs: gestures, words, mime… It’s not about acting or lying, it’s about avoiding stress as much as possible.

What is your personal definition of success?

Reach the sensation of coming home: following the hints on your soul through your actions, your thoughts, your goals, etc. and finally reaching a state of consciousness which gives you a sensation of being at home.

What are YOU seeking help in at the moment?

I really need to structure all of my projects and wishes… really! 😀

What excites you about being a millennial?

What excites me is the feeling of walking in a direction all together, with the same goals and the same vision! I can’t wait to see our first achievement with Millennial Community!
